Labour Day or Labor Day is an annual holiday to celeb rate the economic and social achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight- hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours fo r recreation, and eight hours for rest.
Celebrating the Australian labour movement, the Labour Day public holiday is fixed by the various state a nd territory governments, and so varies considerably. It is the first M onday in October in the Australian Capital Te rritory, New South Wales and South Australia. In both < a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_(Australia)" title="Victoria (Australia)">Victoria and Tasmania, it is the second Monday in March (though the latter calls it Eight Hours Day). In Western Australia, Lab our Day is the first Monday in March. In both Queensland and the No rthern Territory, it is the first Monday in May.

The President of the Marshall Islands is t he head of government and head of state of the Marshall Islands, a Micr onesian nation in the Pacific Ocean, just west of the International Dat e Line and just north of the Equator. He or she is elected by the Nitijela (Legislature) from among its members. Presidents pick cabinet members from the Nitijela. Amata Kabua was elected as the first president of the republic in 1979. Subsequently, he was re-elected to 4-year terms in 1983, 1987, 1991, and 1996. After Amata Kabua's death in office, his first cousin, Imata Kabua, won a special election in 1997. The current president Christopher Loeak was elected and took office in January 2012.
